“QUESTIONS ARE LANTERNS THAT WE SWING AHEAD OF US TO LIGHT OUR WAY.” MARK NEPO
How We Can Work Together
The relationship between us is co-creative, meaning that it is a partnership, that we are equals and both have an active role. I am a trained therapist using honed communication and therapeutic skills to support you as a detached thinking/feeling, intuitive partner. Together we create more power for you to effect meaningful change and take dynamic actions towards your goals.
Counseling Process
-
Learn how to reduce the emotional content of an unpleasant experience
-
Identify the core unpleasant experience
-
Learn self-compassion
-
With a gentle step-by-step process, eliminate the emotional content from the unpleasant experience
-
Integrate the new experience
Your Role
-
Please invest time before each session to identify what you would like to take away from the session.
-
Please be sure all necessary electronics are charged and functional
-
Please arrive to every session on time.
-
Come to your session centered and ready to engage. (I can teach you how to do that).
-
Be open-minded. There are so many advantages to being teachable.
-
Give me feedback in the moment about your counseling experience – what is working and what is not.
-
Please budget for this investment.
-
Provide a private environment- one in which you will be safe and undisturbed
My Role
-
I will provide you with an emotionally safe, non-judgmental and respectful setting in which you can feel comfortable just being yourself.
-
I will arrive on time with all necessary electronics charged and functional
-
I will listen closely to you, respond to what I hear and ask questions. If I hear something in your voice or language or a gesture that sparks an intuitive thought, I am likely to ask you about it. Oftentimes, it is the small moments that bring about BIG shifts. If I am not on target, just tell me.
-
I am not attached to being “right.”
-
At the end of the dialogue, I will likely make a counseling request. I will ask you to stretch, to deepen the work done in the session by taking some action– writing, resolving a relationship or something that feels incomplete. You are free to negotiate, decline or accept the request.
-
To work myself out of a job.
